Notes on using NiMH batteries from HBC-radiomatic
Benefits

Original NiMH rechargeable exchange batteries from HBC-radiomatic provide you with a wide range of benefits.

  • NiMH technology has proven itself time and again over the course of many years, particularly in our HBC handheld transmitters.
  • We exclusively use industrial-quality battery cells that are certified by our engineers according to the highest standards.
  • NiMH rechargeable exchange batteries from HBC-radiomatic have no memory effect.
Battery capacity & charging cycles

The age of the battery and the ambient temperature have a big influence to the battery capacity and the battery charge. At temperatures below -25 °C or above +70 °C, a lower capacity is available.

Our NiMH rechargeable exchange batteries operate in charging cycles. One charging cycle is defined by a new charging process (regardless of the remaining capacity).

When used as intended, NiMH batteries can achieve approximately 500 charging cycles. Even after that, the battery can generally still be used, albeit with lower capacity.

Charging NiMH batteries

To charge NiMH batteries safely, please observe the following instructions:

  • Only use the appropriate HBC charging device to charge the battery.
  • Charge the battery at an ambient temperature of 10 °C to 40 °C.
  • Charge the battery fully before use. This ensures that the battery’s full capacity will be available to you.
Storage

Proper storage of your NiMH rechargeable exchange batteries will ensure a long service life.

  • Charge the battery fully before use. This ensures that the battery’s full capacity will be available to you.
  • NiMH batteries should ideally be 100 % charged when you store them. This helps to prevent deep discharging of the battery.
  • After a long period of storage, NiMH batteries lose capacity that cannot be restored.
  • Consequently, NiMH batteries should be recharged after 6 months in storage at the latest.
Tips for using the batteries

The proven, reliable technology behind the NiMH batteries from HBC-radiomatic is what makes them such an enduring product. We have provided some helpful instructions here to allow you to get the maximum benefit from our batteries for as long as possible:

  • Please note the specified temperature ranges for using, charging, and storing your NiMH batteries (see operating instructions). Using, charging, and storing the batteries at extreme temperatures outside of the specified range can compromise the batteries’ capacity.
  • Always charge your NiMH batteries in a timely manner and avoid allowing your batteries to fully discharge, as this will cause irreparable damage.
  • Never store your NiMH batteries when they are discharged; always ensure that they are fully charged (100 %) before storing them.
Transportation

Please observe the legal regulations regarding the transportation and shipping of NiMH batteries in your country. We deliver all of our HBC batteries from our factory in the appropriate packaging with all the necessary documents and safety information included, and the batteries are covered with a protective cap. Before transporting or sending the batteries, make sure to properly protect the battery contacts from short circuiting.

Disposal

All rechargeable batteries offer a limited number of charging cycles. Please observe all legal regulations regarding the environmentally responsible disposal of NiMH batteries in your country.

Your contact at HBC would be happy to handle the disposal process for you. Please get in touch with us to clarify the details of this process.
